Every woman on the threshold of marriage struggles with her conscience wondering if she should spill out the skeletons in her cupboard and make a clean breast of all her earlier indiscretions. Most mothers advise their daughters to let sleeping dogs lie. What one doesn’t know can’t hurt is the platitude that is offered. Would you call that lying? I have an angry husband right now because I was emailing my ex-husband and my current husband didn't know about it. He feels I have been keeping secrets from him which is the same as lying. I know he is right to feel this way. I kept my emails secret because I felt it was my private business if I wanted to become friends with my ex after resolving some conflicts from the previous marriage. I have no romantic inclinations towards my ex, but I do respect him now as a person. My current husband doesn't believe that I can just be friends over the internet and I know he is hurt by my secret. How do I fix it? I know trust is earned and this is going to take a while, if ever, to rebuild.
